KIDS EXPLORE CORNER

Spread out in the park and learn about nature and sustainability with Street Lab. Explore with books, coloring pages, science equipment, and natural specimens.

STORY TIME

Gather to enjoy a kid's story time presented by The Very Hungary Caterpillar Show. Experience Eric Carlle’s classic stories like you’ve never seen them before.

PLANTING STATION

Start your garden at Its My Park! Day. Get your hands in the dirt with plant starters provided by GrowNYC from the Union Square Greenmarket.

COMPOSTING DEMO

Learn the science of composting with the Lower East Side Ecology Center. Experience how food is composted, learn how to compost at home, and see where to drop off food scraps in Union Square Park.

FACE PAINTING

Get decked out with face painting happening throughout the entire event. Kids are encouraged to get designs of their favorite flowers, trees, animals, fruits, and veggies in celebration of Union Square Park.

MURAL COLORING

Connect with nature through arts and crafts. Kids can get creative and help fill in a giant coloring mural of a Union Square Park scene, depicting ways to reduce, reuse and recycle in parks and at home.

Refreshments

Refuel throughout the day with refreshments from Ole & Steen. Don’t miss their legendary cinnamon socials and coffee for parents.
